South African star Yvonne Chaka Chaka, whose songs “I’m Burning Up”, “Thank You Mister DJ”, “I Cry for Freedom”, “Makoti”, “Motherland” and “Umqombothi” have been popular anthems on the continent for decades, has arrived for this year’s African Legends Night concert slated for Saturday night.
The show, bound to be historic by any standard, comes off at the State Banquet hall at 7 pm.
This year, the event which has also seen performances from such greats as Hugh Masekela, Femi Kuti, Freddy Meiway, Gyedu Blay Ambulley, Amakye Dede, and Ben Brako, will also see Amanzeba, Nana Tuffour, and Akosua Agyepong thrill patrons.
The African Legends Night, an annual event, is organized by Global Media Alliance, and supported by telecom giant Vodafone.
