Chief Executive Officer of Kofas Media, Kofi Asamoah has broken silence over altered copy comments made by section of the public concerning his new comic movie ‘John and John’.
Speaking at press confab on Tuesday after another successful premiere at the Silverbird Cinema in Accra, Kofi Asamoah who seems unperturbed over recent backlash of attempting to replicate another movie titled ‘Skeem’ said he credited the scriptwriter/director of the original film.
According to him, before the premiere of the rib-cracking movie dubbed ‘John and John’, he disclosed to media personnel present about the name of the original movie and the writer but they only focused on the budget and individual cast without the names of the original scriptwriter as they were told.
“If we had failed in adaptation that would’ve been a big deal but I’m surprised at the media persons who were present at the pre-press conference since they never mentioned the name of the writer in their stories but rather dwelled on the GHc150,000.00 budget and other individual actors though I revealed the writer’s name. If the premiere had been a flop that would have been the headline for some media personnel.
“We just have to stay focus since success comes with criticisms. We premiered the ‘John and John’ movie at the West Hills and Silverbird Cinemas in Accra, Kumasi and Koforidua made history. We will continue the premiering in Sunyani, Winneba, Takoradi, Tarkwa and Ho.”
He also added that usually audience are in hurry to exit the cinema halls without watching the end credit.
“My business is to present it as it is… none of the audience stayed to watch the end credit and that’s our culture, but every film maker who stays and watch a film will stay and watch end credit. When Shirley Frimpong Manso watched the movie the first thing she sent to me was good… Tim Greene did well on the screen play.”
Kofi Asamoah did his best to make the movie suit the Ghanaian society for the public to associate with it.
Kofas Media this year broke the box office again. The crowd who purchased tickets to watch the movie was unheard of. The production house, Kofas Media for the past year has had successful premieres across the country and this new film, “John and John”did not ignominy him.
Indisputably most people find pleasure dwelling on the negatives of known film makers who have worked diligently to transform the crumbled Ghanaian movie industry in their own way.
“John and John” movie features Pete Edochie from Nigeria, Liwin, Kalybos, Nana Ama Mcbrown, Joselyn Dumas, KSM, Ahuofe Patri, Bishop Bernard Nyarko, Selly Galley, Salma Mumin, John Dumelo, Abeiku Santana, Gracey Nortey, Grace Omaboe, Moesha Bodoung, Fella Makafui, Roselyn Ngissah, James Gardiner and Umar Krupp.
