It has been confirmed that radio presenter and lawyer, Robert Nii Arday Clegg has called it quits with EIB Network but obviously not without some controversies.
The ‘Airwaves Capo’ as he is affectionately called did not leave a happy man, abrantepa.com can confirm!
Nii Arday Clegg took over from Kafui Dey in September 2015 as host of Starr 103.5FM’s flagship show, Morning Starr but resigned on Monday, February 13, 2017 after a series of disagreements with the new leadership in the Starr FM Komla Dumor Newsroom over how events are handled lately.
Clegg is reported to have complained about how the new leadership had sidelined a section of the staff whiles treating others with disrespect.
With the new arrangements, the former morning show host was required to report to the new boss – something he could not accept nor come to terms with because of his status as a senior staff and a top notch media personality. The Harvard-trained lawyer simply could not be a subordinate to the newcomer who does not have half the experience he (Clegg) has in broadcasting, a source told abrantepa.com.
Our grapevine source added that Nii Arday could not understand why someone who collapsed the newsroom of another radio station with his persistent arrogance, victimization etc would be entrusted to man that of Starr FM.
The newcomer, abrantepa.com is well informed, have had several heated verbal altercations with some ‘innocent’ reporters which nearly ended in exchange of blows.
He is said to have reported Clegg to management over lateness and questioned the capabilities of the presenter at a meeting – and that was the straw that broke the camel’s back!
Reports suggest that talks are still ongoing to get Prince Minkah who recently resigned from Joy FM to take charge of Morning Starr while Francis Abban sits in in the interim.
Nii Arday Clegg appeared on the media scene in the late ‘90s, as a student journalist at Radio Univers, University of Ghana campus radio station. He worked at Radio Gold (2000 – 2006), GTV (2006 – 2010 before working with the Multimedia Group as a presenter of PM Express on Multi TV (2010 – 2012).
