Chief Executive Officer of Drum Lyne Studios, Justice Oteng, popularly known as Wei Ye Oteng has described as unfortunate comments by former member of defunct Wutah music group, Afriyie which seemed to suggest that songs by the group were immature.
Afriyie speaking on AM Pluzz last Friday remarked that the songs he does at the moment are mature, unlike ‘goosy gandah’, a track they recorded as a group.
But Oteng in an interview with Abrantepa.com indicated that though it is not wrong for anyone to state that he is mature, Afriyie’s comment rubbished ‘goosy gandah’, a song which contributed to the success of Wutah.
“It’s not the best for an artiste to make such a comment. We have times and moments. You should appreciate what made you because without them, you wouldn’t have been anybody today. As we grow, we only mature; we don’t just get out of ourselves. For him to have said that is a way of downplaying what he’s done,” he said.
“I believe he’s now mature and can do better things now which is very great. But you’ve grown doesn’t mean some things you used to do were stupid because those were the things that gave you the experience. We should give respect to things that made us become household names,” the renowned sound engineer added.
Wei Ye Oteng has produced hit songs including Obrafour’s Odasani , Trigmatic’s Wo Sika Nti and Obour’s Single.
Meanwhile, Afriyie has released a single titled, Here to Stay.
