The three-day final funeral rites of highlife musician, Daasebre Gyamenah starts on Friday, November 25 but paternal family of the late says they will not step foot at any of the events planned to bid him farewell.
Yaw Boateng who speaks for the paternal family in an interview with MzGee on Hitz FM hinted that his family has a funeral this weekend which prevents them from attending Daasebre’s funereal.
According to him, they informed the maternal side of their unavailability from Friday, November 25 when they announced it as the burial date for the deceased.
He added that mother side of the “Kokooko” singer gave death ears to their request to change the date to allow them attend the funeral so they should not be blamed if they do not show up at the funeral of their relative.
“Friday we have a funeral to attend at Koforidua so we cannot make it. When the date was given, we told them that we also have a funeral on that day so they are aware of it.”
When MzGee asked if it is not wrong for them to be absent at their brother’s funeral, Yaw Boateng answered “yes, it is but there is nothing we can do about it. Only God knows that we have a clean heart.”
He refuted claims that decision of the paternal family to boycott the funeral of Daasebre Gyamenah is due to the fact that they the paternal family wanted to bury the late in Koforidua.
“When we went to court, we agreed not to drag the issue so the body being buried in Central Region is not a problem to us.
