Vodafone African legends night is an event which seeks to celebrate and appreciate African acts and their music.
Over the years the event has received great patronage from the old who resonated more with music from the 60s and 90s but over time, the young and grown adults have developed love for Vodafone African legends night due to the proper blend of the old and new music generation.
The 5th edition of the event came off yesterday at the state Banquet hall and it was headlined by South African music legend Yvonne Chaka Chaka. Previous editions of Vodafone African legends night have seen African greats like Femi Kuti, Freddie Mayway, and Hue Masakela.
At an event like the one will expect to see only the old but in the case of Vodafone African legends night the story different, the state Banquet Hall was filled with equal proportion of old and young audience as they danced and tapped their feet to music from Eshun, a project fame Africa participant.
The event proceeded with a performance from Nana Yaa who gave the young audience a great deal of contemporary African soul music.
Wiyaala and Akosua Agyapong followed with a spectacular performance. Wiyaala pulled off indigenous music and tradition emanating from the North, Akosua Agyapong’s music and stage craft brought people to the dance floor
Amandzeba threw light on the rich African culture and coupled it with “jama”, both his entry and his closing art were flawless. Nana Tufour A. K.A 9924 also did justice to his performance.
The event peaked as Yvonne Chaka Chaka took over the show, amidst her performance she did duets with Ashun, Becca and wiyaala.
The 2016 edition of the Vodafone African legends night did not see only music but laughter as well, DKB as MC kept the night going.
The event was graced by Hon. Dzifa Gomashi, former first lady Nana Kunadu, the British high commissioner Jon Benjamin, Fiifi Banson among other personalities.
