Accra central this weekend, saw a line-up of activities to mark the annual Homowo festival. One highlight among them was the Gamashie Homowo Festival, organised by entertainment outfit Lyrics and More.
Sponsored by telecom giant Vodafone and the first of its kind, the concert (headlined by singer Nii Funny) saw overwhelming patronage to see such acts as SP Sarpong, Edem, Luther, Tinny, Wisa, Screw Face, Shilo, Apaatse, King Jerry, Chameleon, among others.
Executive Director of Lyrics and More, organisers of the event, Halifax Ansah Addo, shared the purpose of the concert in a recent interview as fostering a sense of community and peace among citizens, especially as this is a significant time in the Ga Mashie calender.
Explaining the decision of his team to choose artists for the concert, he stated;“the selection of artistes was tribal-based and my outfit decided to go in for these artistes to reflect the occasion. Apart from two artistes who are not Gas, the rest are and have promised to put up a good show on the night,”
Some 8,000 patrons from Gamashi and surrounding areas attended the concert, intended to be an annual event. It was also supported by EIB, operators of Starr FM, Kasapa FM, Live FM, GHOne Television, Agoo TV, as well as 30 Minitz Live.
