It is Throwback Thursday Again. Raise the roof ! Whoot Whoop.
Today, in honor of #TBT HIGH-LIFE we present to you Mike Gyamfi’s Asem Kakraa.
Asem Kakraa means the little thing that I said.
Sometimes the most innocent words spoken at the least of opportune times can create heart wrenching moments of conflict.
The song’s lyrics are the pining of a lover seeking to reconcile with the beloved after a less than desired conversation.
In this ode to love, a forlorn Mike Gyamfi pours out his heart to the one he loves and begs for forgiveness so that they can return to the glorious days of bliss.
This song received a lot of air play on Ghana’s Radio GAR/GBC when it first came out.
Although I was neither in a relationship nor knew what true love was really about back when this song first came out, the song always tugged at my heart for some reason.
To be totally honest it still does…I get a little ache in my heart and misty eyed when I listen to it. I guess I have just always been a sappy sucker for love.
There goes my street credentials out of the window, whoosh !!!
Please share with us your memories of innocent love with this song or heartbreak (memories of love are better preferred).
You know what they say, “sorry shared is sorry halved and joy shared is joy doubled”.
Listen, hope you enjoy it, and share.
