Hiplife artiste Odartei Milla Lamptey popularly known as Gasmilla has urged his colleagues to focus on securing their future instead of chasing after awards.
The “International Fisherman” has advised Ghanaian music artistes to instead of getting angry and disappointed when organizers of the Ghana Music Awards fail to honour them and should rather focus on hitting the international market.
The international market, he said, will secure for them better rewards, such as wealth and fame in the music fraternity.
Speaking in an interview with ghanaweb.com, the “Telemo” hit singer advised that musicians must leave a lasting legacy which they will forever be remembered for.
“Awards are good, everybody wants to be tapped at the back to say you’ve worked hard, it’s sort of an incentive but don’t make your life about the awards because at the end of the day you will cry when you have nowhere to sleep and all you have is the award,” he said.
He made the comments during an event at Lizzy’s Sports Complex where some Ghanaian Musicians teamed up to play a match with the coaches of Lizzy Sports complex on Friday.
The event brought together musicians like Tinny, Appatse, D Cryme, Capasta, Agbeshi, Nii Funny, Article Wan and many others.
As part of the event the Decathlon Sports Store also donated jerseys to the Lizzy Sports Academy and also marked the birthday of Capasta with a mini party.
