The launch of the 2017 Miss Universe Ghana pageant which was held at the plush Carbon Night Club–Airport City last night saw some of the country’s most prominent celebrities in attendance: Sulley Muntari, Bola Ray, Benny Blanco, Yvonne Okoro, Deborah Vanessa, Kwaku T and a host of others.
The evening was hosted by veteran broadcaster and fashion icon KOD, who has also been announced as host for the main event scheduled for September 2.
Now managed by 2004 winner and CEO of MALZ Promotions Menaye Donkor, the event (which has held since 1991) looks to “tools which help women to be their personal best”, according to organisers.
Speaking at the launch, Menaye praised the pageant for “opening doors” for her, and serving as a springboard for her current successes.
She also disclosed the goal of this year’s event: “having this licence as the new Director for Miss Universe Ghana 2017 is such an amazing feeling… I was once a title holder representing Ghana internationally and I feel that it is my objective to assist the next title holder to make Ghana proud [and] represent Ghana internationally at the Miss Universe level”, she said.
Interested Ghanaian women living in Ghana and abroad may enter to participate in Miss Universe Ghana at the official website www.missuniverseghanaorg.com beginning June 1st. The titleholder gets to represent Ghana at the 2017/2018 Miss Universe Pageant.
