The Public Relations Officer of the Ashanti Regional Chapter of the Ghana Actors Guild, Mr Emmanuel Nii Adjettey has expressed his worry about the rate at which some movie icons have been involving themselves in active politics.
Mr. Adjettey speaking on Ashh FM National Agenda a day after Agya Koo, Matilda Asare and other movie stars endorsed the candidature of the Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo ahead of December polls said, it is very unfortunate that some of the icons who are declaring their support for politicians are been induced with cars and monies.
He told the host of the show Odeefour Kwasi Kay that, he is against the move by some political parties who are inducing their members to make them declare their political stands.
“I think is wrong for a political party to induce stars with cars because of votes when you go to developed countries like U. S, some celebrities do endorse political parties but they did it upon the kind of developments that party in power has done but when you come here, our people are endorsing a party because they have been given a car which is very wrong ”.
He urged the government to rather use the money it has been using to buy cars for stars for proper investments.
“I think if the government had put proper structures in place, all the stars would be riding in their own cars and there will be no inducement in an election”, he added.
