Award winning UK- based Gospel Act, Minister Sonnie Badu has been nominated for the 2017 African Gospel Music & Media Awards (AGMMA).
The awards ceremony seeks to appreciate and reward household names in gospel and further appreciate bloggers, online radio and TV stations as well as local church worship leaders who are pushing the gospel immensely in various ways.
Minister Sonnie Badu was nominated for 3 (three) categories out of the 22 (twenty-two) awards categories. Sonnie Badu was nominated for the Male Artiste Excellence, Song of Excellence and Album of Excellence. In the Male Artiste Excellence category, Sonnie Badu is battling it out with other gospel artistes like Mike Abdul, Sammie Okposo, Nathaniel Bassey and Tim Godfrey from Nigeria and Pompi Dr. Tumi from Zambia and Soundz Africa respectively and Solly Mahlangu and Uche Agu from the USA and Joe Mettle from Ghana.
In the Song of Excellence category, Sonnie Badu’s “ My Soul Says Yes”, is battling it out with songs like Waymaker ( from Sinach, You Are Great from Steve Crown, Grateful from Benjamin Dube, Lion of Judah from Lebo Sekgobela, Nikupendeze from Mercy Masika, Miracle Worker from Glowreeyah Braimah) , Work In Progress from Diana Hamilton, This God is Too Good from Nathaniel Bassey ft. Micah Stampley, Onwanwani from Joe Mettle, Oboto from Sammie Okposo and Giant Killer The Pompi
In the album of Excellence category, Sonnie’s “ Soundz of Africa” album is in contention with the likes of This God is Too Good from N. Basse, Encounter from Joe Mettle, Restored from Lebo Sekgobela, Eko Ile from Muyiwa Olanrewaju, Encounter from Purist Ogboi, Good 2 Go from Mike Abdul, Love and Grace from Dr. Tumi, Yehowah from Diana Hamilton, Spirit and Life from Ntokozo Mbambo, Sanctified from Benjamin Dube, You are my Passion from Isabella and Yearning from Pita.
This year’s awards, slated for 3rd of June in London at the Stratford Circus Centre will witness artistes like Ghana’s Joe Mettle and Diana Hamilton, Gabon’s Melina Ondjani, Nigeria’s Mike Aremu, UK artistes Evans & Purist Ogboi and Sarah Teibo performing to entertain the gathered audience.
The African Gospel Music & Media Awards (AGMMA) is the premier gospel event that recognises the immense gospel talent that exists within the African gospel music and Christian media fraternity and beyond, and honours and rewards them accordingly at its annual awards event. The awards night is a culmination of its yearlong activities which includes seminars, resource and networking events, regional concerts and career guidance. The awards seek to unearth, encourage, motivate and inspire musicians and media outfits to aspire to attain excellence in their ministries and businesses, and to be of better service to the kingdom.
