Since winning big at the 2013 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards, Ghanaian dancehall great, Shatta Wale, has lost out on subsequent awards, regardless of how consistent and relevant he’s been in the last three years – www.entertainmentgh.com can state!
His no-show at the Awards is due to some unsolved disagreements that exist between the artist and the organizers, a situation that ended up in court and ensured that the artist was booted out of the scheme.
The 18th edition of the Awards is tentatively scheduled for April, 2017 and the ‘Kakai’ hitmaker is sure to miss out again, irrespective of how ‘big’ he was in the year under consideration, releasing several hit songs and topping major music charts across the country.
Blogger, Pep Junia of enewsgh.com reports that, close associates of the artist can confirm that the artist did not submit any nominations for this year’s edition.
Nominations for consideration for awards this year closed 31st December 2016 and organizers are yet to announce any extension of the date – www.entertainmentgh.com can confirm.
This means that, once again, the ‘Mechanisn’ singer would watch on the stands as other artists mount the podium to perform and pick awards at the 2017 VGMA, the most prestigious music awards in Ghana.
The PRO of Charter House George Quaye in an interview with Accra FM last year prior to the Awards told the host DJ Premiere that ” Charterhouse has never had any intentions of excluding Shatta Wale, who claims he released about 90 songs in 2015, from the award ceremony, but the his behaviour leaves them with no choice.
“We never said anywhere that we will not nominate him, but the artiste said we should not nominate him, so, why are you forcing us to nominate him?” he asked, again.
Shatta Wale and his management last year started a process to reconcile with the Organizers but attempts to finalize the reconciliatory process failed since Organizers of the Awards (Charter House) on several occasions failed to honour the invitation.
