Stand-up comedian and Doctor by profession, Amponsah Obarima Akuoko popularly known on stage as OB has described controversial marriage counsellor Reverend George Lutterodt as a comedian who only entertains people by giving weird advice and therefore can’t be considered as a real counsellor.
According to him, the job of a counsellor is to counsel people by helping them out of worst situations and not attacking or throwing abusive words at them by giving out outrageous pieces of advice.
Responding to a question during an interview with GhanaWeb, the stand-up comedian said Counsellor Lutterodt always rants and makes noise each time he comes on TV and nothing good really comes out of everything he says so he must join him and other comedians on stage so they perform to amuse Ghanaians.
“Everybody in Ghana watches Counsellor Lutterodt rant, we all watch him rant, he’s almost always on our screen so you can’t miss him even if you switch to the next channel you see him there making noise……. I think he thinks he’s a counsellor and I don’t think he’s a counsellor. I think he’s a comedian and maybe he should have time to join us on stage so we have fun basically because most of his advices when u think about it, it doesn’t really add up,” he said.
Also, OB believes Counsellor Lutterodt’s brand is to be controversial so he gains attention from people because Ghanaians love negative news which probably makes him get attention from the media so they get traffic on their site.
But he warned Ghanaians of seeking help from professionals if they need counselling especially when they think of committing suicide.
“I don’t think any suicide victim should go to that man for an advice, you may end up falling over the ridge so just go to a certified counsellor and then talk to him”.
