The sampling saga between music producer Mark Okuraku Mantey and rapper Sarkodie has taken a new twist as Enas multimedia who were managing the late Daasebre Gyamenah’s before his demise has pleaded with Mark Okura-Mantey to desist from being hypocritical about the matter.
On December 25 last year during Sarkodie’s RapperHolic concert at the Accra International Conference Center, the rapper debuted a tribute song to the late musician featuring Akwaboah. Days later, he released the song on Youtube and SoundCloud.
Okraku-Mantey who didn’t take kindly to the tribute being done without his permission had threatened to sue Sarkodie and his team.
But in a press statement forwarded to razzonline.com, the management of late Daasebre, Enas Multimedia revealed that Mark Okuraku-Mantey doesn’t have the sole rights to the song ‘Kokooko’ even though he was the producer of the song.
They stated categorically that before the demise of their late artiste, there was a bone of contention between Mark and Daasebre which they are sure was the motive behind Mark’s inability to sign the book of condolence for Daasebre as well as attending his funeral.
Enas Multimedia accentuated further that they do not agree with Mark for threatening to sue Sarkodie for sampling the ‘Kokooko’song and are therefore pleading with him (Mark ) to desist from his hypocritical lifestyle and stop acting as though he was in good terms with the late legendary Daasebre Gyamenah before his demise.
