Gospel musician Ohemaa Mercy has rescinded her decision to return every single award plaque she has won from the Ghana Music Awards organisers.
Her decision to return the awards followed a meeting between her management and organisers of the awards, Charterhouse.
The ‘Aseda’ hit maker had earlier threatened to return every award she has won in protest of the what she and some players in the gospel music industry deem as a derogatory comment made about them by George Quaye, Public Relations Officer (PRO) of Charterhouse.
George Quaye generated a lot of controversies when he alleged that some gospel musicians sometimes attempt to bribe organisers to win awards.
His comment did not go down well with some gospel musicians including Ohemaa Mercy who threatened to boycott the event and also return plaques they have received from the awards organizers.
Speaking to Mike 2 on Adom Entertainment Hall, the manager for Ohemaa Mercy, Isaac Twum-Ampofo disclosed that they have resolved not return the plaques.
He explained that what the management team wanted Charterhouse and Music Awards Board to do was for them to dissociate themselves from George Quaye’s comment, which they have already done.
Mr. Twum-Ampofo continued that Charterhouse showed much respect to them and invited them for a meeting after they threatened to boycott the event and they also explained things to them.
The manager, who is also the husband of the multiple award winner musician, stated that the fact that George Quaye has been relieved of his post is a clear indication that both Charterhouse and Board are unhappy about his comments.
He also rubbished speculations that they were bullied by the award’s Board when they went for the meeting and described the meeting as an enlightened one.
He further explained that he is happy that George Quaye has finally shown remorse and has come public to apologise.
Mr Twum-Ampofo, however, appealed to all and sundry to forgive George Quaye and went ahead to call on Charterhouse to reinstate him to his position.
