After Ohrmaa Mercy threatened to return her plagues won at the annual Ghana Music Awards following George Quaye’s bribery claim against gospel musicians, “Mayese Wopen” singer, O. J has threatened to do same.
The gospel musician who believes the allegation against gospel musicians is gratuitous said there is an iota of truth in the claim since it is coming from an insider. He challenged the PRO to mention names of the culprits else he will return all the awards he has won as a gospel musician.
Explaining his decision to give back the awards he has won to the organisers, the gospel musician stated that Mr. Quaye’s claim gives the impression that all gospel musicians who have had nominations or won awards for the past years offered bribe for them.
O.J speaking to Zionfelix on Radio Univers’ Brunch2Lunch entertainment show from his London-based residence added that his management has taken back the forms they submitted for him to be part of this year’s awards. According to him, he filed for about five nominations before George Quaye’s “careless” statement but he is not interested in the awards anymore until they name the gospel musicians who offered bribe.
The musician who recently launched his “Obuafo” album opined that Charterhouse has disrespected gospel musicians for long but this is the time for all artistes in the country to unite and fight them.
