Agya Koo’s press conference held on September 21 in Kumasi to announce his support for Nana Akufo Addo has come and gone but matters are still arising from the event.
Right after the press briefing in Kumasi, outgoing FIPAG PRO who has thrown his weight behind president John Dramani Mahama, Michael Kwaku Ola accused the veteran actor of joining the leading opposition party due to hunger.
He alleged that Agya Koo wanted to join NDC but rescinded his decision due to certain benefits he did not get from the ruling government.
Actress Afriyie Forson popularly known as Aligantus reacting to Ola’s claim has revealed that some big men from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) called Agya Koo to halt the press conference when it was ongoing.
According to the actress who wants Nana Akufo Addo to win this year’s general election, more than six personalities from the ruling party including ministers called to beg him to meet them for discussion but Agya Koo who was determined to endorse Nana Addo gave death ears to their plea.
Speaking to DJ Roar on Kesben FM in Kumasi over the weekend, the veteran actress who said she was close to Agya Koo when all the calls came in warned him to mind his words when he, Agya Koo informed her that ministers and other personalities from NDC are pleading with him to end the press conference.
“I was personally sitting closer to Agya Koo. Agya Koo had more than six calls from ministers and other big men from government telling him to call off the press conference.
Why did they want him to cancel it? How can they call him to cancel it when each Ghanaian has freedom of association? I was by his side when he told me that a minister has called him. I even told him to be careful with his words because anything can happen.
Agya Koo had planned to organise his press conference.” she told the show host.
When DJ Roar asked her to mention names of the ministers who contacted Agya Koo during the press conference to launch “Agya Koo Agenda 57% for Nana Addo”, Aligantus disclosed, “the first caller was a female minister but I didn’t get the name. Later another minister called telling him to come to the airport for them to fly him”
