“I’m grateful to all for believing in me and kept supporting my talent. The countless musicians in Nigeria and also in Ghana like Samini, M.anifest, Sarkodie, MzVee, Efya and ‘the big boss’, Kiki Banson I do appreciate your efforts in making my 10 years journey in the music industry a success.”
Nigerian hip pop superstar, Jude Abaga (aka MI) started his press conference at Urban Grill in Accra, Ghana by expressing his appreciation to his loyal fans, colleague musicians especially Ghanaian and Nigerian acts whom he had collaborated with and his management for believing in his brand.
He went on to tell his fans that they should brace themselves for an inspiring fun as he lines up a series of musical events to celebrate his decade in the music industry. It must be told that, that same night, he had a show with industry colleagues, the media and patrons at the plush Carbon Night Club as a teaser ahead of the main concert coming up on a date that would be made public very soon.
During the questions and answers, he explained that coming up as a rap artist wasn’t easy for him especially in Nigeria where other genres of music were much appreciated but he was able to breakthrough because he told himself that the only way to remain relevant was to be consistent.
“My passion is to help other artistes so I’ll create a platform for those promising acts. My focus is to invest into the music business which entails a lot and not just the performances and events.” He also noted that he has plans to invest in real estates and the final project to undertake is to own one of the notable media brands by acquiring radio stations.
Aside rapping, he has produced and featured on the works of artists like, Don Jazzy, Threadstone, Kel, Djinee, Shifi of Styl Plus, Jesse Jags, Ice Prince, Ruby, Lindsey, Leony, Wizkid, just to mention a few. He also runs a production company, Rytchus Era Productions with his brother Jesse Abaga (Jesse Jagz). In 2013 he was appointed by Nigerian telecommunication company Glo Mobile as a brand ambassador alongside other Nigerian artistes.
He was also a judge in Glo X-Factor, the Nigerian version of the reality singing show in 2013. Within these years, he has won over twenty (20) awards and had several nominations as part of his admirable accomplishments; also topping it now is that he is the Chief Executive Officer of one of the popular record labels in Africa, Chocolate City.
