He may have had his eyes set on the role of Deputy Minister for Tourism, Arts & Culture, but the one with the prerogative to make that call, the President, H. E. Nana Akufo-Addo, thinks otherwise!
Mr. Kwadwo Antwi, who was heavily touted and garnered some support from industry folks to assume the Deputy Minister position, has been assigned another role, which is still connected to the Ministry.
Checks by www.entertainmentgh.com show that, Mr. Antwi has been appointed as the new Head of the Ghana Tourist Development Company Ltd (GTDC) and his Letter of Appointment has already been handed over to him.
Mr. Antwi was one of two names that were publicly bantered over, as to who deserved the Deputy Minister role, with the other being Socrate Safo, an accomplished film maker.
His appointment obviously takes him out of the race to pick the slot, leaving many wondering if that serves as an advantage for the film maker.
The Ghana Tourist Development Company Limited (GTDC) was established in 1972 as a Limited Liability Company to operate as the investment and commercial wing of the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts.
The company subsists essentially to promote relevant competencies in the management and marketing of tourism projects.
GTDC is therefore a leading investment holding and management vehicle for public and private sector tourism related initiatives in Ghana.
