It appears that both the 2016 and 2017 editions of the annual Kumawood Akoben Film Festival and Awards (KAFF),are set to be held concurrently in December this year,seancitygh.com has learnt.
Earlier, the 2016 edition, which was slated for December last year was postponed to April, 7,2017.
The postponement was necessary due to the demise of the Queen Mother of the Asante Kingdom and the observation of the cultural law, which bans loud music or any form of merriment which unfortunately coincides with the original date of the event.
Giving reasons for the reschedule, CEO of Kumawood Multimedia, organisers of the festival,Mr. Samuel Kwabena Darko, explained that they found it very necessary to reschedule both events since it has been the norm to organise it during the Christmas season.
“After a careful observation we find it very imperative to organize the event which has been held during the Christmas yuletide and this was done in consultation with our sponsors and jury”. He said.
Asked whether it wouldn’t affect the awards scheme, Mr. Darko said his outfit has already collated the 2016 results and will do same for the 2017 as well so …”I am confident that the awards wouldn’t be compromised”.He said.
He also hinted that date for the event would also be made known to the public soon.
Kumawood Akoben Film Festival and Awards (KAFF), is an award ceremony which has successfully rewarded meritorious stakeholders of the movie industry in Ghana for the past five consecutive years.
