Hiplife group VVIP have openly declared their support for two political parties in the country and it is interesting how the three are solidly together as a group but have different opinions when it comes to politics.
While Reggie Rockstone (Reginald Osei) has endorsed the Peoples National Convention (PNC), the other two Prodigal (Joseph Nana Ofori) and Zeal (Abdul Hamid Ibrahim) are asking Ghanaians to give the National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) John Dramani Mahama a second term.
Explaining his stance to Showbiz, Reggie said he supports the PNC because he believes in their ideologies and thinks they have so much to offer Ghanaians. “Apart from that, I have always been an admirer of the founder of the party, Dr Hilla Limann because he was such a good man and he was not corrupt,” he said.
“I am also married to Dr Limann’s daughter so you can see where I am coming from, he added.
Reggie is not bothered that his colleagues support a different political party, “I am cool with that because at the end of the day, everyone is entitled to his opinion, we are united as a group but support different political parties so that is not a problem at all,” he added.
On his part, Zeal told Showbiz that they believe President John Mahama should be given a second term because of the good work he has done.
“Our sanitation tour has taken us all over the country and we have seen the work that has been done all over the place during this short time.
“We see the progress as we go along, the roads, the schools, the hospitals are all there for one to see,” he said.
According to Zeal, if President Mahama could do so much in such a short period, then he certainly deserves another term to continue with the good work.
Reacting to Reggie’s different stance on the political divide, here is what Zeal had to say, “we can be in a group and everybody can have their views, he has his reasons for going for the PNC and I respect that. At the end of the day, we are all one people and that is the beauty of it,” he stated.
Prodigal stressed that they were not on the payroll of any political party, “This has nothing to do with meeting politicians or taking money from them to endorse a politician.
“I think every Ghanaian citizen who has good intentions for the country and needs peace must give Mahama another four years to continue his job,” he said.
Touching on the insults hurled at celebrities who endorse politicians, he said, “As a Ghanaian, if you have a great leader who has great vision, can’t one support him? We live in a new world. It is my right to tell who I will vote for.” he said.
Other celebrities who have endorsed President John Mahama are John Dumelo, Mr Beautiful, Kalsoume Sinare, Amandzeba, Bulldog, Rex Omar, Mzbel, Abeiku Santana and Tracey Boakye.
