“It’s never true that we were given the cars so as to campaign for government.” the actor revealed
Veteran actor Michael Afrane has disclosed that they made a deposit of Gh10000 before they were handed over the brand new Chevrolet cars from the government of Ghana.
According to Mr Afrane who made this revelation to OGEE of Bekwai based Dess FM Saturday(10th September), the cars given to them are from the MASLOC initiative by the current government as loans and they are to finalize the payment in five years time, refuting the claims that they (actors) have been given the cars as incentives to canvass for votes for the government.
“It’s never true that we were given the cars so as to campaign for the government. We had earlier on put before the government that we the industry players need cars to make our works more comfortable. The cars are not given to us freely. It’s part of the MASLOC initiative so we made an initial deposits of Ghc 10,000 each before given the cars. We will finalize payment in five years time by paying Ghc1000 every month.”
Earlier reports have had it that some Kumawood stars have been bribed with cars by the NDC government to campaign for them ahead of the general elections slated for December 7 this year.
He, however, mentioned some notable names who were also given the cars as Wayoosi, Awurama Badu, Nana Ampadu just to mention a few.
