Popular Kumawood actor, Agya Koo, has asked Ghanaians to ignore comments made by some NDC fanatics that his support for the opposition New Patriotic Party was borne out of hunger.
According to him, such comments are “propaganda tools” used by supporters of the ruling National Democratic Congress to taint his reputation.
His comments comes days after the outgoing PRO of Film Producers Association of Ghana (FIPAG), Michael Kwaku Ola, alleged that Agya Koo declared his support for the NPP out of hunger.
In an interview he granted an Accra based radio station last week, Ola said Agya Koo approached the leadership of the NDC party to support them but since his needs were not met, he defected to the opposition party.
But speaking with Showbiz on Monday, the award winning comedian/actor said he wasn’t surprised by the unfounded allegations by Ola and his cohorts in the NDC.
“Everyone knows NDC and their propaganda so I’m not surprised Ola has learnt their ways. Well, since he claims he has audios, I challenge him to bring it out as evidence of his claims. I just want Ola and the NDC to know that I will respond to them at the right time.
“For now, I’m concentrating on achieving the 57 per cent target for Nana and the NPP and I won’t let NDC’s propaganda distract me. Of course, not from Ola who isn’t even a Ghanaian but a Yoruba from Nigeria. This is Ghana politics,” he stated.
On how he feels about claims by the 2016 election Campaign Coordinator of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Kofi Adams that he doesn’t know him , Agya Koo, said he isn’t peeved at all since that is the least of his worries.
The veteran actor together with his colleagues, Matilda Asare and Mercy Asiedu launched “AGYA KOO AGENDA 57% FOR NANA ADDO” to support the campaign of the NPP in order to win this year’s elections.
He even paid a courtesy call on the New Patriotic Party’s Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo at his Nima residence last week Thursday to formally inform him of his decision to support his candidature for this year’s elections.
Then at a press conference held on Wednesday, September 21, 2016, asserted that Ghanaians are faced with unprecedented economic hardships which have consequently led to job losses and high unemployment rate, poor healthcare provision and cut-throat utility bills.
