Amina Ibrahim (AI) wife of late Hi-Life singer Daasebre Gyamenah, has revealed that she buried her husband one month ago.
According to her, ever since my husband kicked the bucket I knew him as a Muslim until his maternal and paternal had issues at the court over his corpse.
She revealed this in an interview to host Akawasi Aboagye (AB) on Accra-based Peace FM on their flagship programme dubbed Entertainment Review.
She said: “in the Muslim community we know what we are supposed to do and currently am not at my late husbands burial ground because I buried my husband one month ago.
“I knew my husband to be a Muslim and the Chief Imam of Koforidua has done what he is supposed to do when Daasebre died so for me we have already buried him”, she affirmed.
When asked why she didn’t attend the funeral? She replied that: when my husband was alive he took me to his partenal family house in Koforidua in Eastern Region and now he is being buried at his maternal side at Anumabo that was the mean reason why i didn’t attend the funeral… so I decided to stay here in Accra.
She continued that “What hurt me the most is Daasebre’s brother did poster for his brother [Daasebre], burial and he omitted my son I have with Daasebre named Farouk Gyamenah”.
Below are some Q AND A session during the interview
AB: Don’t you think it’s appoperiate for you to pay your last respect to your husband?
AI: I have lost my voice I have cried since his demise, am a muslim and people know my husband to be a Muslim who pray before venturing into music my uncle converted him into the Muslim religion and gave him the name Abubakar Sadiq, and as Muslim when you die you a suppose to be bury on that day. It’s wrong for you to burry corpse with casket in the Muslim religion. The chief Imam talked to both families and did what he was suppose to do when he died. In the Muslim religion Daasebre has being buried one month ago. It was my wish that I pay my last respect so that his son will also say something to his dad but am still here in Accra.
AB: I have a picture of Daasebre laid in State standing have you seen it?
AI: mmmm Yes i have seen it… I sent it to the guy who called me someone sent it to me from Anomabo and its not right in the Muslim religion… its wrong I have seen the picture.
AB: What are you doing now?
AI: Well am waiting for the paternal side of Daasebre. My husband grew up in Koforidua and when he had money he built a huge mansion in Koforidua and have many properties in Koforidua. So am waiting keenly for my late husband family to call for a meeting.
AB: Will you oraganise any funeral?
AI: Like i said earlier unless my husband’s paternal side hailing from Koforidua finish with theirs then the Muslim custom will be finalised
AB: Sorry and may Allah strengthen you
