The University of Ghana’s Efua Sutherland drama studios was the birth of comedy, drama, spoken word and good music as the much-talked about ‘Chicken & Sobolo’ night came off on Sunday, March 12, 2017.
‘Chicken & Sobolo’ which was put together my Gombilla and andy.com to celebrate the arts featured artists like Sixstrings who treated the audience to his captivating Trotro Diaries and the much-loved hit song, Sobolo.
Some new faces like Duby whose spoken word was on Ghana’s education system, and Fibre who performed about love and relationship, managed to keep the bar high in anticipation of the main act; earning for themselves a thunderous applause from patrons gathered.
Gombilla, the main act, was ushered in with a loud reception amidst cheers as he delivered awesomely, back-to-back lines of his works from homosexuality to how history lied to Africa living patrons with nothing but smiles of admiration for a young talent.
Patrons laughed out so loud when the team of comedians led by Khemical mounted the stage.
Performances by Chief Moomen, of Wogbejeke fame, and some musical performances by ElormGH, a three-man Ghanaian band serenaded the packed audience to heart-warming atmosphere making ‘Chicken & Sobolo’ a memorable one.
