It is six years since trumpeter, Mac Tontoh of Osibisa fame, passed away and some of his friends are putting on a remembrance show in his honour on Friday, August 26 at the Gold Coast Restaurant, near the Nyaho Medical Centre at Airport Residential Area in Accra.
Apart from being a member of Osibisa, Tontoh recorded his own music and helped many young musicians to find their feet in the music business.
He died on August 16, 2010 at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital after a short illness.
“He was dedicated to his art and a kind-hearted fellow who gave of his time and resources to see others blossom.
His legacy must not be forgotten,” said Dr Kwesi Owusu, one of the organisers of the show.
Tontoh was receptive to all kinds of music so a blend of musicians from different genres are expected to perform at the remembrance night which kicks off at 7.30pm.
