JoyNews anchor and Editor Dzifa Bampoh and seven other prestigious women will be recognised for their diligence at the Banquet Hall, State House on Saturday, May 13.
Dzifa will be honoured at the 2017 edition of the Glitz Women of Year Honours for her excellence in the media industry.
Other personalities to be honoured at the event are; producer and director, Shirley Frimpong Manso for her excellence in the arts; musician Wiyaala as young and gifted honouree; Theresa Oppong Beeko and Professor Afua Hesse for excellence in business and health respectively; Joyce Ababio for fashion; Eugenia Tachie-Menson will be honoured as an activist.
Claudia Lumor, Chief Executive Officer of Glitz Africa, organizers of the honours, told JoyNews’ MzGee she is optimistic the stories of these honourees will affect the younger generation.
“I am very passionate about this, it is very personal to me because I mentor a lot of young people and when I go to schools to talk to young people and ask who are your mentors they very quick to say the Oprah of this world and I felt, ‘what are we missing here? Is it that we are not telling the stories of our own Oprahs’? Because we have them here as well,” she explained.
This quarter’s edition of the Glitz Africa Magazine, which is a lifestyle magazine, is dubbed ‘Women of Power’ and it features the first female Chief of Staff, Frema Osei Opare; Minister of Communication, Ursula Owusu; Shirley Ayorkor Botchway, who is the Minister of Foreign Affairs; and Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Catherine Afeku.
