The second edition of Ghana Kids Choice Awards, an award scheme aimed at getting children closer to their role models is set to take off on Friday, August 19, 2016 at the National Theatre.
The award, whose maiden edition saw public figures and showbiz moguls like Grace Omaboe, the late George Williams, actor Lilwin, Gasmilla, Gloria Sarfo, Tutulapato, Tinny, radio and TV host Adwoa Yeboah Adjei, among others, promises to hold a more resplendent ceremony this year.
Ghana Kids Choice Awards is organized by Edybentil Entertainment and RANaway; and is also to honour some role models of the kids and award celebrities who have excelled in various fields of endeavour. These celebrities are chosen by the kids.
The kids from selected schools across the country nominated their favourite celebrities and later the coordinators went back to the schools for a paper vote to finally select the winners for the various awards.
According to the C. E.O. of Edybentil Entertainment, Mr. Eddie Bentil, this year’s edition is going to be more fun and entertaining and urge parents, children and showbiz people to throng the National Theatre on August 19, 2016 to be part of the excitement.
“Times like this are very crucial in the lives of children. They look up to these great people in society and coming in contact with them, spurs them on to also yearn for greatness. This year we also target the politicians – to urge them to ensure that peace prevails before, during and after the elections. Children are one of the most vulnerable in the society and must be protected in situations as this,” he noted.
On stage, the winners will be announced amidst enthralling performances from musicians like Gifty Osei, Praye, D – Cryme, Worship in Motion, Funnyface, comedian Haugan and a surprise act. The award will be hosted by actress and TV presenter Gloria Sarfo and Hitz FM’s morning show host, Kpekpo Maxwell Justice (KMJ).
There shall also be the Rainbow Carpet, where celebrities will be interviewed and children get the opportunity to take photos and autographs from their celebrities.
Proceeds from the programme will be donated to the Maternal Health Department of the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, in tandem with the theme “Kill the Mosquito, Save the Pregnant Woman.” The programme will also take interest in advocating peace for the Ghanaian child.
