As part of events to mark his 40th birthday, AbdulRasheed Bello who is popularly known as JJC Skillz, and his wife, Funke Akindele-Bello, have launched a record label, SOP Records.
Already, some artistes – Mo Eazy, Gemstones, Sonorous and Martinfeelz – have been signed to SOP Records which is owned by the couple, and have performed the soundtrack of a new TV series, Industreet, produced by Funke Akindele-Bello.
GemStones are female twins – Awa- Agwu Uzoma Ruby and Awa- Agwu Olanma Pearl – who sing Afro RnB. After graduating in 2015, they auditioned for the MTN Project Fame Music Competition, season 8.0 and were both selected to be in the Reality TV show, with Pearl coming out First Runner Up and working with Yemi Alade and Chidinma to release songs, Whatever you Do and Kedike remix, respectively. Pearl went on to release her own single, KURO in 2016.
Mo Eazy whose real name is Moses Agboola was born in Kano but moved to UK where he honed his music skills in the church. Mo Eazy who has a hit single, Red Carpet, has performed with industry heavyweights in UK and Nigeria and has received several awards and nominations.
Martinsfeelz (Olawale Ayoeji Martins) and Sonorous (Omokanye Olasunkanmi Muhammed) both hail from Ilorin, Kwara State. And while Martinsfeelz, a Microbiology student at University of Ilorin, raps, Sonorous got his major after recording his first single, Iyamileko, in 2013 which is a fusion of Afro, Fuji and pop.
