Ghana’s First Lady, Mrs Lordina Mahama, has visited veteran actor Jaga Pee at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital after a successful open heart surgery.
Mrs Mahama, accompanied by the Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Mrs Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare visited Jaga Pee immediately she arrived from a campaign trip Thursday, September 29, 2016 and presented a cheque of an unspecified amount to the ailing actor, who is currently responding to treatment.
Wife of the veteran actor, Beatrice Nkansah received the cheque on behalf of Jagger Pee in the presence of Dr. Siribour who successfully performed the surgical operation.
Mrs Mahama used the occasion to also thank Dr. Siribour and his team for performing the surgical operation on Jagger Pee successfully.
The actor has been battling with a heart ailment for some months now. He was recently rushed to the Holy Trinity Hospital at North Kaneshie and later transferred to the 37 Military Hospital.
After going through a medical test at the national Cardiothoracic centre at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, the report indicated that he was suffering from rheumatic heart disease with severe aortic valve incompetence and mild to moderate mitral valve regurgitation.
Jaga Pee was one of the leading actors and made a tremendous contribution to the Ghanaian movie industry until an unfortunate situation took him to prison in 1996.
Jaga Pee has featured in a number of movies such as landlord and TV series like “Chorkor Trotro.”
