Movie producer and director, Philip Pratt, has lamented some challenges confronting the industry.
Speaking to Agyemang Prempeh on GH Entertainment on Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm, he said finances and distribution remains the two major challenges confronting industry players.
According to him, movie producers are faced with high production cost, piracy, and poor distribution among others in line of their work. He said, we need support and sponsorship from corporate sector and government to ensure the sustenance of the industry.
It is very challenging paying for equipment, production, promotion, artistes and at the end of the day, you may not get any returns. Technology he noted has also affected movie production in recent times.
The digital evolution has flooded the marketplace and online distribution is becoming a common place. Illegal online distribution he added, has also affected movie making negatively.
”We need to have access to distribute our films,” he said. He explained, as a filmmaker it is important to create something of high quality because people will buy what you create and when it is not good, they will not buy it. He added, you must plan for the marketing, sales and distribution of your movie.
The budget of every movie he stressed depends on the script or the story being used.
