Nigerian author and celebrated feminist, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, has been revealed as the new face of British beauty brand Boots No7.
Chimamanda featured in a new advertising campaign that celebrates how empowering it feels to wear makeup.
She is quoted in Vogue’s November 2016 Real Issue to have said that beauty advertising relies on a false premise.
“I think much of beauty advertising relies on a false premise – that women need to be treated in an infantile way, given a ‘fantasy’ to aspire to… Real women are already inspired by other real women, so perhaps beauty advertising needs to get on board.”

The campaign will launch on October 21, on television, online, in print and in outdoor media.
