Highlife musician, Lucky Mensah has refuted reports that flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, paid him to compose a song for the party.
Mr Mensah, who recently switched camp from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to the NPP, said Akufo-Addo did not give him any money when he met him recently to present a copy of his song, ‘Yese Samu’ to him.
In 2012, Mr Mensah recorded ‘Atta Beye’ for the NDC and later disclosed his anger at the party for not fulfilling a promise to give him a 4×4 vehicle but gave him rather a Toyota Corolla.
Nana Akufo-Addo, last Thursday, posted photos of himself with Mr Mensah with the caption, “Ghanaian highlife musician, Lucky Mensah, visited me at my Nima residence this morning. He presented me with a copy of his latest song, ‘Yeresesamu’, which endorses my candidature ahead of the December election.”
Shortly after that meeting, there were reports that the NPP flagbearer handed the highlife musician some money during the meeting.
However, in an interview on Rhythmz A-Z on Joy FM with Mamavi Owusu-Aboagye Saturday, he said he did not compose the song for the NPP for money of it.
