Days after Ghanaian actor, Alex Kofi Adu popularly known as Agya Koo openly declared his support for the Presidential Candidate for the New Patriotic Party, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, he has come under heavy castigation by a section of the public.
In an interview with host of Kasapa Entertainment on Kasapa 102.5FM, Kojo Preko Dankwa, the award-winning actor’s former communication strategist, Isaac Rockson made certain allegations claiming Agya Koo’s endorsement of the NPP’s Flagbearer was spearheaded by the Asante Regional Chairman of the party, Mr. Bernard Antwi Boasiako also known as Chairman Wontumi.
“If Agya Koo says he hasn’t taken any money, he’s lying. Aya Koo has been paid and given an office by Chairman Wontumi and he’s being pushed to say all the things he’s saying.
“He’s gotten many properties from this…. if he says he hasn’t gotten anything from this endorsement, then I will tell him he has been very stupid.”
According to his former spokesperson, the day that he (Agya Koo) made the declaration to support the New Patriotic Party’s Flagbearer a decision was reached and he (Agya Koo) was advised thoroughly to re-evaluate his decision of his support for Nana Addo since he is still in talks with the President (John Dramani Mahama).
“We had a discussion thoroughly and on the very day he was going to endorse Nana Addo’s candidature, I saw that this is a delicate issue so I said… look we’ve taken a decision and the people who fought for you, you want to ignore them in your decisions because you want money and he (Agya Koo) was desperate for MONEY.”
He further disclosed that “the truth is that Agya Koo endorsed Nana Addo because of hunger.”
When asked by the host why he said that, he replied “He (Agya Koo) wasn’t ready to support Nana Addo but since he was prevented from seeing the President (John Dramani Mahama), adding that Agya Koo wanted to see the president and rather campaign for him.
The veteran actor together with his colleague actors like Matilda Asare and others recently launched “AGYA KOO AGENDA 57% FOR NANA ADDO” to support the campaign of the NPP in order to help bring the much needed change.
