The Ghana Broadcasting Corporation, GBC, has subjected themselves to a Global smack after misleading and misinforming the entire public with reports of the passing of former South African President Thabo Mbeki on thier TV network last Wednesday.
According to the report on the major News bulletin,The former South African President who served nine years as the second post-apartheid President of South Africa from 14 June 1999 to 24 September 2008 died on arrival at the hospital following a short Illness after complaining of sickness at dawn that day.
This report which was however false earned the broadcasting Network a massive lambasting from across the continent. The latest person to add her voice is Ghanaian female journalist and comedienne Afia Schwarzenegger who has condemned the station heavily for tarnishing a well-built legacy and also embarrassing the entire nation.
“As for GTV, the least said the better…so now that we all know fmr Prez Thabo Mbeki is alive what should we do to you, the nation’s number 1 fake news station?? You need to see how south Africans are laughing at Ghanaians…Does GTV uses Internet in their office at all;if so what do they use it for..Facebook or Twitter .. The last time I checked Dede Ayew was referred to as a musician called Ayitey powers by GTV. ..why why, why? Bad production,terrible pictures and creating stories in their head, Eish enough is enough Enough of your embarrassments .”
