Entertainment critic and regular guest on GH Entertainment on Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm, Arnold Asamoah Baidoo has said 60% of nominees and songs nominated for the annual Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMAs) for the past three editions are not popular.
He said: ”My observation for the VGMAs over the last three editions shows that 60% of the songs and personalities nominated for the ceremony are not popular.” He added, going into the nomination list for 2017, the gospel song category should have been left to only Nancy. This is because the other nominees on the list to me are not convincing.
‘’I am not happy with the nominees for the gospel category. In my honest opinion, the award should have been left for Nancy especially the gospel song of the year.’’
The Gospel Song of The Year category has the following nominees: Yewo Nyame A Yewo Adze – Nacee ft. Ernest Opoku Change Over – Mary Agyemang Mewo Jesus – Mabel Okyere Still You Reign – Sonnie Badu Healing Stream – Jeshrun Okyere ft. Nathaniel Bassey Agye Won Nsam – Piesie Esther.
He further indicated that the excitement and enthusiasm that usually comes with unveiling the nominees has gone down. He used the opportunity to admonish the organizers, CharterHouse to review it to bring back the excitement. He was however quick to add that, the organization went well.
