This year, although the entertainment industry has seen some growth and has advanced in various ways, it has also been a year when the industry has lost a good number of people to death.
Several causes can be attributed to the death of these entertainers and showbiz personalities. Here is a list of all showbiz personalities.
1. Isaac Yeboah – 1st January
Isaac Yeboah was the manager of Highlife legend, Amakye Dede. Isaac Yeboah used to write for the P&P Newspaper. He met his untimely death after Amakye Dede’s Toyota Corolla car was rammed into by a Sprinter bus from Kumasi with him inside it, as he was waiting to perform at a show at the Paradise Spot, a few meters away from the popular Linda Dor Restaurant.
2. Solomon Sampah – 23rd January
The actor, a native of James-town, died at age 70 after he was rushed to the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital following a short illness. He was survived by eight children.
3 Nkomode – 5th February
He was bed-ridden and had suffered kidney, liver and bladder problems in the past.
(4) Bob Okala – 12th March
The 59-year-old died at the Koforidua Government Hospital after a performance.
(5) Samuel Odoi Mensah – 12th April
After battling kidney disease for months, former Actors Guild president and actor Nii Odoi Mensah died on April 12 in China where he was undergoing a kidney transplant. Doctors said both kidneys of the actor incapable of performing their key functions effectively to keep him alive.
6 MC Flava Pounds – 4th May
Popular Efiewura TV series actor, Lucky Azasoo-Nkornoo aka Mc Flava Pounds died Wednesday, May 4, 2016. He was reported ill a few weeks before his shocking passing. Even some 14 hours to his death, he took to Facebook to thank his fans for their support and prayer.
(7) Danny Nettey – 15th July
He died on July 15 dawn after being found unconscious around 2:00 am.
(8) Daasebre Gyamena – 29th July
Daasebre Gyamenah has died at the 37 Military Hospital in Accra. The award winning artist according to the family was battling with some illness but couldn’t survive in the early hours of Friday
(9) George Williams – 1st August
He died at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital on August 1 after complaining of illness at home and was rushed to the hospital.
Kofi Middleton Mends – 16th August
The late Middleton-Mends’ death occurred on Tuesday, August 16 at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra at aged 77 after battling with kidney disease
(11) George Forest – 31st August
He died at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, Kufour Emergency in Kumasi after battling an undisclosed illness.
(12) Omanhene Pozo – 21st September
Omanhene Pozo had been in and out of hospital between November 2015 and February 2016. Doctors admitted him after his condition deteriorated. He was said to be suffering from brain tumour.
(13) Vybrant Faya – 23rd October
The dancehall musician on October 23 was involved in a fatal accident on the Tema Motorway, and was rushed to the 37 Military Hospital where he died. He was only 29 years old.
(14) Katawere – 14th November
The actor died after battling an undisclosed sickness for the past two years.
