NPP Canada, coming out of the shock of the death of Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey, would like to celebrate a life well-lived, a path strewn with bright lights.
NPP-Canada was privileged to have hosted Chairman Jake in Toronto in 2010.
A lot about Jake that many have long admired was on full display during the period Jake spent in Toronto with NPP-Canada: eloquence, charm, pragmatism, good sense, loyalty to the Danquah-Dombo-Busia tradition, a fierce proponent of free-market systems, love for his homeland Ghana.
Within the Danquah-Dombo-Busia tradition, he is generally considered as the most successful Campaign Manager ever. Jake led the Party to victory as a Campaign Manager not once but twice: in 2000 and 2004.
In a meeting as recent as April 2015 at his Accra residence with NPP-Canada Chairman Kwame Abrefah, Jake mentioned as being on his bucket list a visit to the Canadian Rockies to see places like the Banff National Park.
Jake departed too soon before he could fulfill this particular wish on his bucket list. But Jake has departed with a bucket list that that is a lot more complete than many Ghanaians can hope to achieve in two lifetimes.
Jake may not have come to see the Canadian Rockies but certainly he has paved the way for Ghanaians and visiting Canadians to enjoy some wonderful paragliding on the Kwahu Rockies, one of the many legacies of Jake.
