The NDC – North Rhein Westphalia branch, one of the largest states in Germany, met over the weekend, Saturday 18th June 2016 in the state capital – Duesseldorf to elect new executives to lead the Party into another four- year term of office.
The event took place at a popular Town Hall (Merziger Str23 – 40476) where a large section of the NDC branch members, Party faithfuls as well as invited Guests from other part of Germany were there to witness the occasion.
The election was orderly conducted by an Ad hoc electoral committee, characterized by intensive campaign by all aspiring candidates. Each candidate was however given the platform to outline his / her political vision and plans towards strategies for President John Mahama to retain power come November 2016 general elections in Ghana.
Finally, the following officers were elected and subsequently sworn into office by the ad hoc electoral commissioner (Mr. Francis Kumi)
1. Engineer Richmond Kukubor – Chairman
2. G. W. Fischer – First Vice- Chairman
3. Francis Somnyame – Second Vice- Chairman
4. John Acquah – Third Vice – Chairman
5. Jasper K. Adamah – Secretary
6. Light Kwametse Aboetaka – Organizing Secretary
7. Morow Abass – Treasurer
8. Madam Naki Osei – Women Organizer
In his acceptance speech, the newly regional chairman – elect, Engineer Richmond Kukubor thanked his fellow comrades for the trust reposed in him and promised to start work immediately to help the party position itself such that they would be able to bring the needed peace and development to Ghanaians.
He continued, “I also wish to express my profound gratitude to all my supporters, the entire NDC members near and far for their massive turnout, last but not the least, I cannot forget the Ad hoc electoral committee members for their exceptional duties”
Engineer Kukubor however, promised to help bring a cordial relationship between the NDC party in Ghana and Social Democratic Party of Germany ( SPD) as both parties share similar ideas and philosophy.
“As a newly elected Chairman, it’s my responsibility to advise the NDC Government under the good leadership of President John Mahama to use the media to inform and educate the good people of Ghana in the diaspora the great achievements of the NDC”.
“The primary aim of the NDC members and executives in the diaspora would be able to find businesses to link up with Ghanaian business counterparts, especially private owned enterprises so as to create more jobs for Ghanaians in the private sector” Engineer Kukubor stressed
They also assured the national executives of National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Accra that they’re ready to contribute their quota towards “OneTouch” victory for H. E, John Dramani Mahama.
