The fund will be used to support the education of Edwin’s two children
The Finance Department of Stanbic Bank has set up a GHC10,000 fund in memory of Edwin Yaw Augustt, a teacher who lost his life to an End Stage of Renal disease.
The fund will be used to support the education of Edwin’s two children – Josephine Enyonam Augustt (15years) and Divine Delali Augustt (14years).
According to Mercy Ofori, Head of Capital Management at the Finance Department, this money was originally raised to help offset Edwin’s dialysis bills but he lost his life before the Bank could make the donation.
“He reached out to us for help when he was undergoing dialysis and the Finance department quickly contributed and raised an amount which was doubled by the bank,” said Mrs Ofori. “Unfortunately, he lost his life before we could present the money to him.”
The money has thus been saved at Stanlib, the investment and asset management arm of Stanbic Bank.
This initiative, according to Mrs Ofori is in tandem with Stanbic Bank’s culture of supporting and caring for the vulnerable.
“The children lost their mother 10 years ago, and they need a lot of support now,” she said.
The Bank also pledged continual support in other forms for the now orphaned children, especially with their education.
