Minister for Finance, Ken Ofori Atta, has tasked the new Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) Board to ensure that they restore the trust Ghanaians had in the scheme some years back.
Speaking at the inaugural ceremony of the new board, the minister entreated board members to act in the interest of government, contributors and Ghanaians as a whole to ensure the scheme realizes its purpose.
He said in ensuring that the board achieves optimum results and successes, government is determined to implement numerous policies and initiatives which include reactivation of Social Security SSNIT informal sector pension scheme that the previous government placed on ice.
He said Ghanaians were looking up to the investment benefits to develop key infrastructure to grow the economy and urged the board to help pursue this agenda.
Chairman for the new Board, Dr. Kwame Addo-Kufour, assured the minister of the board’s commitment to ensuring SSNIT assists government to resuscitate the national economy.
