Ghana Railway Workers Union has called off their intended strike schedule on 12th September 2016.
Speaking to Adom News General Secretary of the Union Godwill Ntarmah said their move follows a meeting Wednesday with the National Labour Commission.
The Ghana Railway Workers Union has expressed displeasure about the accumulation of salaries, SSNIT contributions, and warned that the situation will force them to lay down their tools.
The workers have since September 1 been hoisting red bands at the offices of the Ghana Railway Company Limited (GRCL), and on all passenger trains in Accra.
The union stated that if by September 12, the financial support in arrears had not been released by the Ministry of Finance; there will be an indefinite withdrawal of all passenger trains services in Accra.
But Godwill Ntarmah said the commission has subpoena Transport and Finance Ministry to appear before them next week Wednesday to address the issue properly.
According to Ntarmah if nothing concrete comes out after the meeting on Wednesday they will then be forced to lay down their tools.
