The vice presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia has indicated the decision of the party to scrap all taxes on fishing equipment to ease the financial burden on the fishermen in the country.
The high tax system according to him has affected fishing activities adversely in the country with fishermen finding it difficult to afford such equipment especially outboard motors.
Addressing party faithfuls at Narkwa in the Ekumfi district of the Central Region, Dr. Bawumia assured the people of the party’s commitment to develop the coastal areas so that living standards will improve in such areas.
The coastal development authority with the associated fund of $1m each year for the coastal areas, he added will help the coastal areas address challenges confronting them.
