The National Lottery Authority (NLA), is optimistic of becoming the most preferred Lottery Operating Institution in Africa by 2018.
The Director General of the Authority, Brigadier General Martin K. G Ahiaglo (RTD) who made this revelation said, to achieve this vision, the authority has put in place measures – including employing modern technology that would ensure efficiency and convenience to help enhance its business transactions.
The NLA also seeks to reach its target through frequent on-the-job training programmes for its staff and a critical review and assessment of activities for a new strategic direction and posture necessary to better deliver on its mandate.
Addressing guests and patrons at the launch of its history book in Accra Tuesday, February 28, 2017, the Brigadier General Martin K.G Ahiaglo (RTD) – said the Authority – in the bid to deliver on its mandate by “generating revenue for National development and creating moments of hope and happiness for its cherished patrons”, has created a rich history which had been handed down from one generation of staff to another.
This “rich” history, according to General Ahiaglo needed to be documented for future reference and for posterity, thus the need to put together the book titled: “National Lottery Authority, The Journey so Far”.
“To my mind the best way of preserving this history was through looking into the past and stringing together the memorable milestones in the history of the Authority from its inception to date and documenting this for posterity; it was this idea that gave birth to the title of the book we are launching today,’ he noted.
A former Director General of the NLA, Major General C.B Yaache who chaired the event said – for the Authority to accomplish its vision and mission of becoming the best lottery agency in Africa, it must be strategic in its dealings and must implement policies which would make it the ideal choice.
He called for discipline among the staff and excellence delivery in order to ensure the NLA leaves a lasting legacy for its successors.
General C.B Yaache commended the current director of the Authority, General Ahiaglo and his team for their relentless efforts which has yielded the historical narrative in the book launched.
He also used the occasion to thank stakeholders including the Ministry of Finance, partners and patrons who have been instrumental to the development of the NLA for their immense contribution.
