MTN Ghana, the leading telecommunications company in the country has revealed at its annual Stakeholders and Media forum, that the company is intensifying efforts to reach more Ghc 3 billion revenue for the 2017 business year.
The telecom giant made Ghc 2.7 billion revenue in 2016 and paid more than Ghc 700 million in tax to the government.
Chief Executive Officer of MTN, Ebenezer Asante who addressed the forum held at the company’s head office in Accra noted that MTN Ghana was named among the best in the MTN Group in 22 countries for maintaining its dominance in the sector, having recorded a rise in its subscriber numbers and market share and Profit.
‘The business in 2016 did very well, we grew by 19.8% against the average industry growth rate of 14.6%…MTN has contributed about that 2.3% of the total revenue total government and 4.3% of total tax collected in this country adding up on the year on year record…It is our hope that in 2017 we cross 3 billion’ He noted.
Mr. Asante also explained that bulk of the revenue generated are reinvested in the company and the country for that matter.
In a bid continue to provide ubiquitous telecom services for its customers, Mr again Asante revealed that the telecom industry giant would spend a sizable amount of $143 million on capital expenditure in network upgrading and expansion this year.
He was quick to add that MTN Ghana would roll out 197 Long Term Evolution (LTE) popularly known as 4G sites across the country to complement to the existing 275 sites spread nationwide, bringing the total number of LTE sites in the country to 475
