President John Dramani Mahama, Friday, inaugurated new fleet of buses for the State Transport Company and promised to ensure the company survives as long as he remains the number one gentleman of the land.
“STC stands for safety and comfort and there is the need to recapture those glorious days. As long as I remain President, I will make sure that STC survives. This is a new lifeline for STC,” he noted when outdooring the new buses at the company’s premises in Accra.
The new Scania Marcopolo fleet buses are to boost the operations of the State transporter in order safe and efficient service to Ghanaians who want to travel across the length and breadth of the country.
President Mahama commenting further urged the staff of the company to put in their best to ensure that STC buses remain the safest and most comfortable in the country, stressing that he has the belief that public sector could compete very well with the private sector.
“This government is a social democratic government and I believe that we can have competition between the public sector and the private sector.
In the midst of an economy, we have the private sector and the private sector. Both can survive and operate efficiently. And so STC is not going to compete with any one and besides, it is Ghanaians that are going to benefit from its operations. So, let us work to brand STC again as the safest transport company in Ghana and as the most comfortable transport company.”
