The Ghana Water Company Limited(GWCL) has begun electronic-billing system in their bid to transition from paper bill delivery to electronic-billing through SMS and or Emails.
Already, SMS alerts have been sent to customers in the Greater Accra, Central, Ashanti and Western regions to validate their records;
“If you are a customer in the above listed regions and have still not received your any SMS from GWCL, kindly report to the nearest GWCL district office and update or issue your customer details or call the call centre.” a release copied to the thebftonline.com revealed.
The alert comes in the form of Customer Name, Customer Accounts Number, Customer Phone number and or email address,Other relevant information
According to management of GWCL, they will begin sending e-bills concurrently with Paper bills from March 2017 and gradually cease delivering that of the paper bills.
Customers are as a matter of urgency, the press release states are expected to cooperate to ensure a smooth transition.
Furthermore, data collection still remains on-going and customers are requested to be supportive by providing the stated details when the GWCL conspicuously identified Meter Readers visit their premises.
The GWCL introduced an electronic billing system to replace the old system in June 2016 on a pilot in the Tema Region. The new electronic system will calculate the water consumption instantly and automatically send to Customers their corresponding bill via text message and or e-mail.
