The Ghana Climate Innovation Center(GCIC) has set out to give a total of 1.1 billion dollars to 50 entrepreneurs who will be able to come up with innovative solutions in the areas of solar energy, energy efficiency, water purification, waste management and climate smart agriculture.
The entrepreneurs whose innovations will breed positive impact on the environment as well as create employment will receive both training and funding from the association.
In an interview with Citi Business News, the Executive Director of The Ghana Climate Innovation Centre, Ruka Sanusi said talks are underway with government on how to address the challenges of businesses in the area of climate.
The deliberations, she added will look at how best to implement the innovations of entrepreneurs to solve some of the country’s socio economic problems.
“Looking at all the five sectors of our concentration, are there any government policies in place and what the regulatory environment is, and is it helping our entrepreneurs or impeding them,” she asked.
She added that the center will work with government agencies to protect the environment and conserve natural resources.
“We are confident that we will work together with the government to ensure that the green environment is a reality as well as the success of these entrepreneurs”
