President Akufo Addo has appointed Mr. Freddie Blay as Board Chairman for the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC).
He is to head the seven member board which includes the Managing Director of GNPC, Dr. K. K. Sarpong.
Other members on the board of the GNPC are Prof. J. S Nabila, Mr. Kwabena Kwakye and Mr. Yaw Kyei.
The remaining members are Nana Adjoa Hackman and Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi II.
A statement signed by the Chief of Staff, Akosua Frema Osei Opare confirmed the appointments and asked the Ministry of Energy to take the necessary steps to swear in the new Board of Directors.

Frederick Armah Blay, popularly called Freddie Blay, is a Ghanaian lawyer and a politician.
He was a Member of Parliament for Ellembele for years, and served as the First Deputy Speaker in the Fourth Parliament of Ghana.
He lost his seat in the general elections held on 7 December 2008 to Armah Kofi Buah of the NDC.
He was a member of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), but resigned to join the New Patriotic Party after being criticized by some CPP stalwarts for not campaigning for the CPP flagbearer Paa Kwesi Nduom, instead endorsing the NPP’s presidential candidate then, Nana Akufo-Addo.
